With that, Amara lifted her palms to the sky, and her body was immediately wrapped in a liquid and gorgeously brilliant blue fire. It formed a circle on the ground around her feet and steadily crawled up her legs, the ends of the flames reaching her shoulders. The ends of her hair were lit with fire, and her blue eyes burned just as brightly as the fire surrounding her. Sebastian could feel the intense heat emanating from her fire as its flames nipped at his skin. Looking down at his hands, he saw the ends of his fingers blackened and the skin peeling back from the bone. Bile rose in Sebastian’s throat. He looked back up at Amara to see her head tilted up towards the heavens, where a dim halo rested above her. Her mouth was open in a silent scream, and the tremendous outline of blue, fiery wings protruding from her back lit up the darkened night sky.
